Completing my coursework

During this coursework assignmet I have learnt a great deal of lessons, lessons about using the technology, about the different media institutions and industries and a huge amount about target audience. Now that I have completed my research, construction and evaluation of my magazine I feel that I have done my work well to the best of my ability and have grown in confidence learning about and using the information I have gained through doing this task and my media lessons.

Update

Now I have completed these portions of my evaluation, I have to focus upon completing my seven question evaluation and my audience responses to my magazine. For the seven questions, I have to concentrate on going into depth and really explaining in full detail, the process of making my magazine, target audience, institutions e.t.c. I am finding some questions more difficult to answer, in comparison to others, for example questions which are to do with target audience and institutions I am finding easier to finish, whereas with questions based upon how I’ve used codes and conventions and a comparison to my Preliminary task, I have struggled to complete them, as there are a lot of factors I wish to include. I have made a questionnaire to report the audience responses to my magazine and am now in the midst of getting them filled out and displaying the replies in a table.

Creating my Japop CD cover

This is the step by step creation of my Japop CD cover, I have depicted the stages of it's construction and how I related it to the relevant topics, such as target audience, Jazz andPop. I have also referred to professional Jazz and Pop CD covers in an attempt to better understand how they can attract their particular target audiences.

Editing my images

Update

I have written down the processes of editing my images and constructing my magazine, including many of the smaller features. I have done so by concentrating on how I tried to target my appropriate audience and link to both Jazz and Pop.

Images

From the images I have taken I have compared them to other professional Pop and Jazz, artist's poses and the poses featured on professional Jazz and Pop magazines. I have done this in order to properly attract and refer to features of each of the genres, in the hybrid of Japop.

Explaining our magazines genre

While deciding the basics of our magazine our group decided upon a genre called Japop which is a hybrid of two tribes, we therefore have to carefully consider the different techniques to use to make our genre original and interesting.

My group and I have decided to make a magazine with a new genre; our idea is to create a music hybrid. Japop, a mixture of both Jazz and Pop, which includes certain qualities from each genres of music. Qualities which could be music involved, appearance or characteristics of the certain artists e.g. age group/ genders. An example of this could be, a slow song, which can be linked to both genres, with electric guitar which is well known for certain pop songs. Along side that might be a saxophone or other brass instruments which are orientated with Jazz, these various mixtures for various songs could instate to the perspective audience how ‘Japop’ is created.

Update

My flat plans for my issue of our group’s magazine are completed and I have annotated them in detail. Our group began by sitting together and making House style flat plans that everyone would follow when designing the flat plans for their individual issues of the magazine, making each issue easily identifiable to our particular magazine. Then using the house style flat plans we each had to draw up our own issues. After drawing my front cover, single page contents and double page article flat plans I began annotating them, basically explaining the reasoning behind each feature and how it will look, how the magazines will target our appropriate audience and finally how our we are conforming to our selected design (house style).

After getting people to fill out the questionnaires to aid our group when making decisions for our magazine, I put our responses into graphs and charts to easily portray the results.
